The Bill of Rights
The first ten amendments are commonly reffered to as the Bill of Rights. The reason why these ten amendments get attention is because they are the first ten amendments and of the most important. These amendments give protection to citizens' rights, and also prevents government interference with these rights.
The 10 Amendments:
1. 5 freedoms - The Freedom of Press, the Freedom of Speech, the Freedom of Petition, the Freedom of Assembly, and the Freedom of Religion
2. The right to bear arms
3. Soldiers cannot be quartered in any house unless given consent by the owner
4. Property cannot be searched or seized unless given a warrant and if there is a valid reason
5. The right to remain silent
6. The right to a fair trial
7. Once a judge makes his judgement based on the facts presented, no-one may overturn that decision
8. No excessive bail nor cruel and unusual punishments can be made on the accused
9. The people have rights that may not be listed in the Constitution, but are still valid
10. The powers not given to the government or prohibited by the Constitution is the power of the states and people
